The Challenge:
PR Newswire was seeking a mechanism to improve the quality of their EEO tracking and reporting. As talks with Accolo progressed, it became apparent that PR Newswire’s current internal recruiting function, supported by the HR generalists, would benefit from a dedicated, centralized recruitment department. One of the challenges was to accurately measure recruiting costs, hiring manager satisfaction and recruiting efficiency. Another consideration was the amount of time spent in the recruiting process: time that could potentially be better spent focusing on employee relations. With a need to grow the organization and hire top talent in a competitive market without greatly increasing costs, PR Newswire recognized that an RPO provider might be the solution to overcome these challenges.
The Accolo Solution:
Starting in June 2005, PR Newswire engaged Accolo to support their hiring needs. Accolo’s solution incorporates a technology that includes all of the attributes of an Applicant Tracking System to provide EEO data capture and reporting. Through a unique combination of process, people and technology, Accolo has been able to deliver significant value to the PR Newswire hiring function. In February of 2006, Accolo deployed on-site resources to better consolidate PR Newswire’s hiring activities and establish a formal recruiting department. Since Accolo’s introduction, PR Newswire has been able to document candidate quality, recruiting speed and hiring costs, something they could not do with their previous decentralized recruiting function. In addition, Accolo demonstrated its scalability by staffing new and expanded site locations. Lastly, Accolo’s Hiring Consultants have become immersed in PR Newswire’s corporate culture enabling them to communicate PR Newswire’s employer value proposition to candidates.
Results:
PR Newswire’s average Recruiting Cost Ratio was 5% in 2007, 66% better than the national average of 14.9%*, translating to a savings for 2007 of more than $1.1 million.
Accolo led the hiring of 257 employees in 2007 while maintaining a hiring manager satisfaction rating of 4.4 on a scale of 5.0
