Case Study: TriNet
Industry: Professional Services ~ Human Resource Outsourcing (HRO)
Business Description: TriNet is one of the leading providers of HRO to the technology, professional service, and financial service industries. TriNet provides integrated human resources services including payroll, benefits and employee relations, allowing their clients to focus on their core business strategy and leave the HR function to TriNet. TriNet employees are a team of HR professionals who understand specialized industries and the needs particular to highly compensated, highly skilled employees. With guidance on everything from benefits funding to employment strategies, the TriNet service team helps its clients achieve high-level business objectives.
The Challenge:
TriNet focused on supporting small, venture capital backed companies throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s. With the market downturn in 2001, TriNet was severely impacted and needed to reduce its headcount through 2003. Even during this tumultuous period, key hires still had to be made. With their recruitment capabilities eliminated, they needed a flexible solution that minimized costs.
The Accolo Solution:
In 2003, TriNet engaged Accolo to become its internal recruiting department, including support from Accolo’s centralized team, an off-site staffing manager, patented technology, and Accolo’s Career Network. As TriNet’s hiring activity increased, Accolo increased support from its centralized team while keeping overall costs of TriNet’s complete recruitment department to a minimum. In December 2005, a full RPO solution was deployed, including an on-site, dedicated resource. This allowed Accolo greater access to hiring managers, a better understanding of the corporate culture and more effective promotion of the TriNet brand. As TriNet’scomplete internal recruiting department, Accolo drives tactical recruiting activities, such as job fairs and community outreach, while designing their long-term recruitment strategies.
Results:
Prior to Accolo, TriNet did not track recruiting costs or efficiency. Since implementation, Accolo has introduced standardized performance measures such as Days to Present, Days to Start, and the Recruiting Cost Ratio.
Accolo’s primary measure of recruiting efficiency, “Days to Present” the candidate hired, dropped from 18.9 days to 11.2 days, a reduction of 41% after the on-site resource was introduced.
TriNet’s current Recruiting Cost Ratio is 3.75%, 75% less than the national average of 14.9%* which implies a savings of $164,598 over the recruiting costs of the average company in the U.S.
